Lectra lessons

Over the next 6 weeks we will be having lessons on our new topic 'lectra', this will include programs such as Kaledo, Modaris, and Diamino.

Lectra is an industry specific service, CAD CAM equipment and software. Used in not only in fashion but many other industries such as furniture, composites, aerospace, marine and many more. Lectra is French and was developed in 1973. There is also another Company adjacent to Lectra called 'Gerber' Which is American.

We are using Lectra for computer aided pattern cutting. You may think that this is only used in fast fashion or the high street for mass-production but many other names you may know of crop up for example, Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Vivenne Westwood.

I am very excited to even have the opportunity to learn how to use these programs, they are very expensive pieces of equipment, and we as students are very lucky to have this at our university! As i said above, they are used in industry all the time, so when i eventually add this to my CV it will hopefully be beneficial. Along with our design project we also have to keep track of everything we do in our Lectra lessons and keep it all together in a folder.
